When Loose Fill Is the Smart Choice
Blown-in insulation is loose cellulose or fiberglass that a machine blows through a hose across the attic floor. It settles around trusses, wires and pipes without the gaps that batts leave, and it is one of the least expensive ways to raise an attic to R-38 or more. For many Bradenton homes with an open, walkable attic, blown-in over a well-sealed ceiling gives you most of the comfort gain at a fraction of the cost of foam.
Cellulose or fiberglass
Cellulose is made mostly from recycled paper treated with fire retardant. It is dense, fills gaps well and resists air movement better than loose fiberglass. Loose-fill fiberglass is lighter, does not absorb water as readily and does not settle as much. Both work. We recommend one or the other based on your attic, any existing material and your preference, and we install to a stated depth, not just a number of bags.
What we do before blowing
Air sealing comes first. Blowing insulation over open gaps leaves the hot attic air leaking into the house. We seal around the top plates, lights, fans and the hatch, and we install baffles at the eaves so the new insulation does not block the soffit vents. Florida attics depend on that intake air to carry heat out.
Local prices
Homeyou's Bradenton cost page lists an average blown-in job of $1,164 to $1,499, with a wider range of $606 to $2,526. National guides from HomeGuide and Fixr run higher on larger attics. The true figure depends on attic size, the depth you want and how much sealing is needed.
Walls
Dense-pack cellulose can be blown into closed wood-frame walls through small holes. Most Bradenton homes have concrete block exterior walls with furring strips, so this is more common for frame additions, older wood houses and interior walls between living space and the garage.
What This Covers
Blown-in insulation jobs we handle:
Attic top-ups
Adding loose fill over existing insulation to reach R-38 or more.
New attic insulation
A full layer after old, damaged insulation is removed.
Eave baffles
Vent chutes at the soffits so insulation does not block intake air.
Dense-pack walls
Cellulose blown into closed frame walls in additions and older wood homes.

How It Works
1. Measure
We check existing depth and condition, attic size and vent layout.
2. Quote
Material, target depth and R-value, sealing and any removal, each priced.
3. Seal and baffle
Ceiling gaps sealed and eave baffles installed.
4. Blow to depth
Loose fill blown evenly, with depth rulers placed so you can check it.

Blown-In Insulation Questions
How deep should blown-in insulation be?
It depends on the material, since cellulose and fiberglass reach a given R-value at different depths. We list the target depth and R-value on the quote and leave rulers in the attic.
Does cellulose attract pests?
Cellulose is treated with borate fire retardants. It is not a pest barrier, though, so any rodent entry points should be fixed before new insulation goes in.
Is blown-in or spray foam better in Florida?
It depends on the attic. If ducts are in good shape and the attic is open, blown-in over a sealed ceiling is good value. If the air handler and long duct runs are up there, roof-deck foam can do more.
How long does a blown-in job take?
Most attic top-ups take a single day, including sealing. Removal of old material adds time.
Is blown-in insulation messy?
The work happens in the attic, and we cover the area under the hatch. Removal of old material is the messier part, and we vacuum it straight to bags outside.
